Beaver Falls, PA

So, I have discovered that Beaver Falls sucks! There is nothing to do, and it seems pretty ghetto. I have yet to hear anything good about the town, and have yet to discover anything good. I am going to be moving to Cranberry Township soon, so much better, and they have a Chick-fil-a by the hotel. It looks like I am only going to be able to go home every other weekend, so Cynthia and the kids will be coming down during the week to visit. Its so hard being this far away, but its hard to pass up work when times are hard.
It was pretty funny talking with some of the other people on the project, it seems like we have worked with several of the same people in the past. So far, it is going good down here, I just wish it was closer to home. It would be nice to be able to spend the weekends with the family on the pontoon boat, doing a little fishing. Guess I'll just have to find a place down here to use my fishing boat. Hope all is going well with everyone reading this.

Pittsburgh

Well, I finally got the call! I'm headed to Pittsburgh on Monday, our 5th anniversary. I know bad timing, but what was I to do? I'll make sure to get some pics of the mini road trip down. Now if only we can find a house on a lake down there, we'll be set.

Engines.....Argh

Well, after spending all afternoon trying to figure out how to re-assemble the engine on the pontoon boat, it still did not start. Now I have to go back through and try troubleshooting a few things before I succome to defeat and take it to an actual mechanic. Normally, I would have done that by now, but since I have nothing better to do, I figured I would give it a shot.

Texas

Well, I found out late last night, I will NOT be going to Texas. However, I did find out today that I am going to starting a new project up. The first few weeks will be hard, as it is only commission based pay. After that, then it will be back to a normal day rate pay. We're hoping to get this project going strong so we will have work for awhile. Wish us luck.

Boston Children's Museum

Hello all. Sorry it took so long to get this up, but I have been very busy with the boat this past week, more on that later.

Tuesday, before we left for home, we decided to take the kids to the Boston Children's Museum. But, before we got there, we had an awesome beakfast with Alan and Amy. I have never seen pancakes or french toast that big! When we got to the museum, there were several field trips there, so it was really packed(packed with annoying little(and big) brats). After lunch time however, most of the kids had left and Travis and Jenna were able to enjoy the museum much more. I could not believe how big the museum was. We could have stayed there all day, if not for a 6 hour drive we would have. There were a few things that weren't all that great, and a few things closed, but it was definetely worth the price of admission.

After dealing with Travis and Jenna throwing tantrums for about a week, it was the first nice day we've had in awhile. If we end up living out here longer, we want to make it back again in September, when there will be less people in town(hopefully!).

Water Fountains in Boston

We came along this little place while we were walking on the Freedom Trail. We couldn't resist the temptation to cool off on such a warm and humid day. Plus, the kids had a great time. It made all of us very happy, for a short time anyways.

Boston

Greatings all. We arrived in Boston on Sunday evening, after a VERY LONG DAY! Monday morning we left our hotel to go walk the Freedom Trail and see many of the historic sites in Boston.

It was very humid out, and I think thats why it took us awhile to figure out where we were supposed to go. Once we got our bearings, the day started to get a little bit better. There are so many things to see on the trail, that we did not have time to see or take pictures of everything. It is also a little hard when you have two young children with you. We had a great time seeing all of the historic sites, I just wish we could have spent more time looking at each thing. Hope fully we will get to make it back here again soon so we can see some of the things that we missed or were unable to see, the USS Constellation is closed on Mondays :(.

We leave tomorrow morning, but not before a quick trip to the Kid's Museum. Travis was really looking forward to going there today, but we were all way too tired to go.

Corning Museum of Glass

Hello all, today we went to the Corning Museum of Glass, you guessed it, Corning, NY. Although we didn't get to tour the entire museum or watch any of live demonstrations, we did get to see a lot of neat glass art. We plan on going back again soon, that way we can make either flowers or ornaments(yes they actually help you do that, albeit a little costly). WE were hoping to see a little bit more, but Travis and Jenna refused to eat before we went in, and it just snowed balled from there.

Hopefully we'll be able to go back soon to finish seeing all of the museum and demonstrations, as well as actually making something out of glass ourselves.

It looks like we are going to Boston next week, so we'll have an update for you all then.

Glenn H. Curtiss Museum

Today we visited the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport, NY. We had a very fun time and learned a lot about Curtiss as well as a lot about early aviation in America. Curtiss actually received the first pilots license issued in America. For several years Curtiss was known as the "Fastest man on Earth," after setting a record speed of 136.3 mph on a V-8 motorcycle in 1907.

I never knew of Curtiss or all of his many accomplishments before visiting, it is amazing how much he had to do with aviation.

Travis got to sit in a scaled down version of a pusher, and pretend he was a pilot. I did not expect the museum to have such an extensive collection of airplanes and motorcycles, as well as WW I and WW II artifacts. I think this is going to be one of many times that we visit the museum, as they always have a special exhibit that changes. Right now it is of bathing suits from 1900-1970 and next month is going to have a vintage motorcycle show, we won't miss that.

Pagaent Pics

Here are a few pictures from our trip to Palmyra for the Pagaent, on July 16, 2009. We all had a great time and look forward to going again in the future. We tried to get a picture with some of the cast, but Travis wanted nothing to do with it. We are going to make trip up to Palmyra again soon, so look for a full post as well as some great pictures.

Insomnia

Well, its been a week and a half since I was laid-off, and I have am going crazy! I'm so use to working, I do not know what to do.
Sure, I've spent a lot of time with Cynthia and the kids. I've done a lot of fishing, and finally starting to see some things around the area(it only took me two and a half years and being laid-off to do so), but I feel as if I'm becoming useless. Hopefully this won't last too long, as I may have a few options coming up.

We do have some things planned for this week and next week, we are going to Boston, and also going to see a few museums close by. We also got the opportunity to go to Pagaent in Palmyra last week, and I must say it was spectacular. We had been to Hill Cumorah last year and when we pulled up to Pagaent, the size of the stage on the hill was awesome. The show was amazing, Travis almost stayed awake through the entire show! The one thing I don't get, though, is the protestor's that show up. Do they really think telling us we're going to Hell for being Mormon is going to convince anyone to leave the Church or convince those interested in the Church to be swayed? If anything, it just makes us all look better. I asked one gentleman if he would like us all to come down to his church on Sunday and stand outside and make noise while they are trying to worship, but of course, he wouldn't answer me. I do not have a problem with someone voicing their opinion, but I do believe there is a time and a place. And you shouldn't be telling families, especially ones with young children that they are going to Hell for their beliefs. I'll get off my "Why can't protestor's find something better to do" box now.

Travis and Jenna have been getting so big, and are learning so much. It is amazing to see their growth over the last year. Travis now says his own prayers, as well as family prayers. He doesn't seem to let Cynthia or I get one in, unless we tell him we are going to say it. Jenna even folds her arms and is usually quite for prayer, no matter how long Travis goes on. It was so funny, today Travis asked Heavenly Father to bless our blessings, I guess he wants some kind of superhero blessings, haha.

Yesterday we went fishing, and Cynthia finally caught her first fish. She had caught some before, but I had thrown the line out and set the hook for her. This time though, she casted her line out, set the hook, and took the hook out of the fish's mouth(albeit a very small fish), now if only I can get her to field dress a deer.

WEll, I think I'll try getting some sleep, as it's only a matter of time before kids atart waking up.
